RE: My Poor Truck

I would take it to another body shop and get an estimate and an idea what they would do to fix it then compare that to the free fix.

RE: GM's plan presented

Just how does filing Bankruptcy get people to buy cars. The problem is not quality but the perception of it. GM cars and truck quality is as good and better than the Japanese. The labor force is a small percentage of the problem.
The biggest problem facing the domestic car companies is us in not buying them.

RE: Chevy Volt - towable? How about AC & Heat?

Of the many Hybrids GM's Volt makes the most sense. It take a smaller internal combustion engine to charge the battery's than to run the drive wheels

RE: Problem with PressurePro

If you have replaced the sensor and it still does the same thing it is probably the dill valve in the valve stem is not out far enough for the seal in the sensor to push it in reliably.

My vote is a spider nest in the tube. I had to clean one out just a few days ago.

RE: pulling a tracker

Yes you can. I did for two years. I was told to make sure the trans. was slightly over filled ( to the point that some fluid runs out when the plug is removed)

RE: Changing Banks when changing residency

We retained our MI bank account when we switched to SD and have had no problems. We have since opened accounts in three different banks in different states. Just pick a bank that has multi state branches or in our case we do everything by internet.

RE: Towing double question

Even though I only double tow a car behind my 5th wheel. I would be more concerned with the 1500# trailer swaying. If you watch a car in tow it's jumping back and forth from on set of pavement groves to the other. I would think this is going to really give a trailer behind it problems.

RE: Pulling a car behind our fifth wheel. Against the Law !

Britt
We were stopped once in FL by a DOT officer where it is not legal to double tow.
He was stopping Semis to send them into a temp weigh station, never said boo about the car and let us go.
We have several friends with Smarts that are side loaded on their trucks, I think they would be to heavy for the trailer frame by the time you add the platform and lift equipment.
You may be able to add a stinger hitch to get enough room to load it on your truck.
Take a look at the HDT forum on Escapees.com there are several treads on the Smart4two.

RE: Pulling a car behind our fifth wheel. Against the Law !

Britt
I have been double towing for 3 years now and here are a few of my observations.
I would not use the tow dolly for several reasons
1. It adds another connection point where the wheels are strapped to the dolly.
2. If you do get stopped you would need to have a hitch on the towed to get the dolly off the road (most people I know that were stopped just had to break the double down).
3. I do not like the added tongue weight even thou the Newmar frame should be ok.
4. Get a good aux breaking system that is hooked up to your truck (I have the Air Force One from SMI tied into the truck air break system) you need the breakaway features to provide the added safety to others on the road.
I also think anyone towing doubles needs a back up camera to watch the second unit plus a tire pressure monitoring system also as I mentioned earlier a good aux break.
Make sure your hitch is strong enough for what you are towing some factory installed hitches are not.

RE: A couple questions on SMI AFone

I did my own install on my HHR. It was fairly easy the hardest part was finding a place to tap the brake on feed back light into. I do not know why anyone would mount that light in the towed except it would not require running a wire up to the dash.

RE: Air compressor replacement.

When was the last time you changed your air filter? It could just be it's saturated. These pumps will always pass a little oil just to keep them lubed.

RE: Remote tire pressure/temperature monitoring

There are no systems out there that will alert you before a blow out.
There are several systems that tell you low/high pressure and temp. I have 16 Pressure Pro sensors and have had no problems. I have had them alert me to low pressure in the mornings when it's cooler than when they were set.
